Connecting art
to the wild within.

My artwork is rooted in observation, relationship, and reverence for the living world.

Through botanical and ecological illustrations, I explore the quiet intelligence of plants, landscapes, and the creatures woven through them.

A woman with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing a dark blazer and white top, sitting at a wooden table in a cozy room, smiling as she sketches on a large sheet of paper. The room has large glass doors with green framing, red curtains, indoor plants, and a swing outside visible through the glass.

The Story of Swamp Wing Studio

Swamp Wing Studio grew out of my lifelong practice as a naturalist and artist. The name is inspired by a moment from childhood — a white egret lifting from my grandfather’s swamp, its wings catching the morning light. That image has stayed with me as a reminder of beauty, mystery, and our connection to the natural world.

My art rises from a lifelong practice of paying close attention — to movement, to light, and to the more-than-human world.

How the Work Began

Years ago, I spent months in the forests of Costa Rica creating over 300 black-and-white botanical illustrations for a field guide to woody plants. That experience shaped the way I see and draw the world — with precision, curiosity, and deep respect.

Those drawings became the foundation for this studio: a home for artwork that blends scientific observation with ecological reverence.

Today, my studio is a home for ecological drawings, prints, and educational illustrations inspired by the landscapes I’ve loved.

“My drawings are studies in connection — observing my body, the plants, ecosystems, and the quiet complexity of the natural world and our place within it.”

What I Create

From these original pen-and-ink drawings, I’ve built a growing body of ecological illustration work. I now create:

  • Botanical prints

  • Notecards and seasonal artwork

  • Ecological illustrations inspired by Costa Rica and the Southeastern landscape
